Kevin Sumlin on Texas A&M’s morale after tough start: ‘Winning helps’

Texas A&M’s season has been anything but boring.

You’ll remember that the Aggies had an epic collapse against UCLA in their opener on Sept. 3, losing 45-44. Then Texas A&M looked less-than-impressive in dispatching Nicholls 24-14 last Saturday.

So you might wonder about the Aggies’ morale as they enter a matchup against Louisiana on Saturday. Coach Kevin Sumlin offered a rosy outlook when speaking to reporters Tuesday. Check out his responses on the topic, courtesy of Battalion Sports.

Certainly, winning helps. And Texas A&M must do more of it in a hurry to keep the critics at bay. But it’s hard to believe that the Aggies’ morale is as positive as Sumlin makes it seem, especially after such a rocky start.

The bad news isn’t hard to find. On Tuesday, USA Today’s Paul Myerberg named the Aggies as the country’s “most disappointing” team so far. So that’s something. Doing a quick Twitter search about Sumlin and Texas A&M doesn’t turn up pleasing results either.

We’ll see if the Aggies can shake their “disappointing” label and revive their season fast.
