Johnny Manziel has made public his rooting interests for Super Bowl 52.
On Sunday, the former Texas A&M quarterback used an Instagram story to publish a photo of a red Tom Brady jersey with the message, “I know who me and Ollie are rollin [sic] with. WHO YOU TAKING??” Of course, Brady and the New England Patriots will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night in Minneapolis to decide who will hoist the NFL’s Lombardi Trophy.
It’s cool of Manziel to remain connected with his Instagram followers in this way. We’ll learn in time if the former Aggies quarterback will receive another NFL opportunity to try to lead a team of his own to the Super Bowl. He threw for 1,675 yards and 7 touchdowns during the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. However, he hasn’t appeared in the NFL since then.
Beyond the NFL, some would like to see Manziel make an appearance in the reboot of Vince McMahon’s XFL in 2020. But the ability of Manziel to appear in the league remains in doubt after McMahon said he wasn’t interested in players with a criminal record.
For now, Manziel will enjoy football’s biggest spectacle like the rest of us — as a fan.
