Nick Starkel set to return as Texas A&M backup quarterback
Texas A&M will add some much-needed quarterback depth on Saturday as one of the players hurt in the season-opening loss returns from injury.
Nick Starkel, who left the Aggies’ Week 1 loss to UCLA with an ankle injury, is back on the depth chart following a seven-week recovery.
According to Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, Starkel, who started against UCLA, will now serve as the backup quarterback to freshman Kellen Mond.
Kevin Sumlin confirmed that QB Nick Starkel is the No. 2 QB on the depth chart right now, coming back from an injury he suffered vs. UCLA.

Kevin Sumlin said Nick Starkel (ankle) isn't quite 100 percent but he's ready to go behind Kellen Mond if necessary (now Mond's backup).

After a rough start to the season, Mond has steadily improved his play over the last few weeks, leading the Aggies to a solid 5-2 overall record.
