Texas A&M has officially hired its fourth offensive coordinator in five seasons, and Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin went out west to get him. UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone has officially accepted a three-year deal as of Friday morning, per Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports.
Mazzone, who has been at UCLA for the last four seasons, led the Bruins’ offense to 45th-, 36th-, 20th- and 31st-ranked finishes in the country, respectively, in scoring offense.
Feldman also reported that Noel’s son, Tyler Mazzone, will also be joining Texas A&M’s staff. Mazzone has been UCLA’s quarterbacks coach since January, 2013. In 2012, he served as a graduate assistant for the Bruins’, attached to the special teams unit.
The two coaches will enter College Station, Texas. having to take on one of the biggest question marks at the quarterback position in the country. Both Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen transferred from Texas A&M last month, and the Aggies just landed graduate transfer Trevor Knight from Oklahoma earlier this week.
