Jimbo Fisher is assembling his staff for his first season as coach at Texas A&M, and another member is reportedly joining the Aggies.
According to Stefan Stevenson of the Star-Telegram, TCU director of player personnel Eric Russell is leaving to accept a position on the Texas A&M staff. It is unknown what Russell’s role with the Aggies will be.
Russell has been with TCU since 2015. Prior to that, he served three seasons as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator at Washington State. Russell was the tight ends/special teams coach at Tennessee from 2010-11.
Russell has also served as an assistant at Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, New Mexico and Idaho. He was at North Texas from 1994-2006.
While it is unknown what role Russell will fill at Texas A&M, he should bring a wealth of knowledge to the Aggies that will surely be beneficial.
Texas A&M will begin the Fisher era with a Thursday night home game against Northwestern State on Aug. 30.
