We already know that Tennessee coach Butch Jones favors the Florida-LSU game being rescheduled, despite the fact that it doesn’t appear those schools will play the game this year.
Count Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin as someone in Jones’ camp.
“They have to find a way to play that game,” Sumlin said, according to a report by ESPN’s Chris Low. “I don’t see any way around it if they want to keep it fair for all teams.”
Jones is concerned that a 1-loss Gators team could end up in Atlanta for the SEC championship game without having played a full 8-game conference schedule, and Sumlin has to be concerned that the Tigers could similarly benefit from having to play 1 fewer game as well.
College football has a way of producing crazy, so it would not be surprising to see one of the above scenarios come into play. If that’s the case, we’d have one (or two) very unhappy SEC coaches.
