The Aggies are set to lose Daeshon Hall to graduation and will likely lose Myles Garrett to the NFL. And now they will lose sophomore defensive end James Lockhart to a transfer.
247Sports Brian Perroni spoke with Lockhart’s father, who said he will transfer to another program.
“James is looking for a new start and somewhere where he fits a little bit better,” his father told Perroni. “He just wants to look at everywhere out there and see what scheme he fits in and where he will be happy.”
Lockhart appeared in 12 games this season and racked up five tackles and 1.0 for a loss. Lockhart was a 4-star recruit in the 2015 class. He is also a sophomore and will have two years of eligibility at his new school after sitting out for one season. Alabama was a finalist for Lockhart last year and he also took visits to Stanford and Texas.
The Aggies takes on Kansas State in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 28.
