Texas A&M offensive tackle Germain Ifedi has officially joined the NFL. Ifedi was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks with the 31st and final pick of the first round.
Ifedi is an intriguing pro prospect because of his ability to play both tackle and guard at the next level. Ifedi played right guard during his first two seasons at College Station and played right tackle last season.
The 6-foot-6, 324-pound prospect has prototypical size and length for his position. Scouts are impressed by Ifedi’s strength, body control and versatility. But Ifedi needs to improve his technique to become a reliable NFL starter.
Ifedi ran a 5.27-second 40-yard dash, completed 24 reps in the bench press and leapt 109 inches in the broad jump at the NFL combine.
The Seahawks are desperate to bolster an offensive line that allowed quarterback Russell Wilson get sacked more than 40 times last season.
