One day after Texas A&M baseball fell to TCU in the Super Regionals, outfielder Nick Banks announced his departure from College Station.
The junior from Tomball, Texas said “thank you” to fans in a Twitter post on Monday night after being drafted by the Washington Nationals in the fourth round of the MLB First-Year Draft over the weekend.
Banks, who finished second on the team with nine home runs, was the first of eight Aggies drafted.
“Thank you 12th man for the ride,” he wrote. “It was an experience I’ll never forget.”
The series loss to TCU marked the second straight year A&M fell to the Horned Frogs in the Super Regionals. Banks (1-for-11 over the the final three games) and the Aggies were favored, but split the first two games before falling, 4-1, in the rubber match Sunday.
