Texas A&M officially added a big man to its 2017 class.
Aggies men’s basketball coach Billy Kennedy confirmed Wednesday that 3-star power forward Isiah Jasey signed with Texas A&M on Wednesday.
“Isiah is a guy we’ve been recruiting for a long time,” Kennedy said in a press release. “He’s coming from one of the top programs in the country in Sunrise Christian, which plays a national schedule. He’s got a great ability to rebound above the rim and his toughness around the basket will make an instant impact on the court for us.”
The 6-foot-9, 220-pound big man is ranked as the nation’s No. 48 center and the state of Texas’ No. 18 overall player, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
He played two season at Killeen Ellison High School before transferring to Sunrise Christian Academy (Wichita, Kan.). He averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game last season.
Jasey originally committed to Texas A&M in August after receiving offers from eight schools, including Baylor, UConn, Houston and Memphis, among others.
“Isiah has a tremendous motor and his work ethic is special,” Sunrise Prep coach Luke Barnwell told Scout.com’s Brian Snow, according to the release “He is a high-level athlete and his immediate impact will be felt defensively blocking shots and rebounding. I think Isiah is just scratching the surface offensively and he will continue to get better.”
