Texas A&M has suspended sophomore wide receiver Speedy Noil for Wednesday’s Music City Bowl, according to a report from 247Sports.com. Coach Kevin Sumlin confirmed the suspension to media members on Tuesday.
The reason for Noil’s suspension is unknown, and the duration of the suspension is uncertain. 247Sports reported that Noil would miss A&M’s 2016 season opener against UCLA as well.
Noil played in nine games this season and battled injuries and off-field problems throughout his second season. He was suspended for Texas A&M’s game against Western Carolina in November for a violation of team rules.
Noil caught 21 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns this season. He caught 46 passes for 583 yards and five touchdowns during his freshman season. He was the No. 1-rated wide receiver in the nation as a senior in high school in the Class of 2014.
