Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin and his staff have secured pledges from a few talented prospects in recent weeks, but none may be as skilled as the one they picked up on Tuesday.
Santino Marchiol, a 4-star linebacker out of perennial powerhouse IMG Academy, has committed to the Aggies, he announced on Twitter.
Ranked the No. 16 inside linebacker prospect in the Class of 2017, Marchiol joins a Texas A&M recruiting class that also possesses a 4-star safety (Derrick Tucker) and a 4-star athlete (Keldrick Carper) who could wind up playing cornerback for second-year coordinator John Chavis. That’s certainly promising news for a defense that has finished in the bottom half of the SEC in total yards allowed since Sumlin showed up at College Station.
The addition of Marchio gives the Aggies 14 pledges overall and plenty of momentum as we progress through the peak summer recruiting period.
