After missing Week 7’s game against Alabama, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin confirmed in Tuesday’s press conference that linebacker Otaro Alaka will miss the remainder of the season with a torn labrum.
Sumlin said that Texas A&M will apply for a medical redshirt for Alaka to preserve another season of his eligibility.
The sophomore linebacker sent a Tweet Monday saying that he was getting started in the rehabilitation process.
Aggies defensive coordinator John Chavis told reporters he will have to adjust without Alaka by rotating and substituting more linebackers into the game.
“We’re going to be creative, we’re going to adjust,” Chavis said. “We got what we got. We got a great group of young men and we’re talented enough to improve and play better.”
Alaka recorded 12 total tackles, two solo, and one tackle for a loss in the three games he played for the Aggies this season.
