The NFL future of LSU star tailback Leonard Fournette has been a much-debated topic in recent weeks, but he isn’t the only elite 2017 draft prospect in the SEC.
Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen has blossomed into one of the conference’s best at the position in his first full season as a starter, and NFL draftniks are taking notice.
Matt Miller, an NFL draft writer for Bleacher Report, tweeted late Saturday night that Allen could be the first quarterback off the board in the 2017 NFL Draft.
“If I had to put it in ink today: Jared Goff, Kyle Allen, Josh Rosen are the #1 QB in the next three drafts,” Miller (@nfldraftscout) tweeted.
Allen leads the SEC and is ninth in the country in passing efficiency. He has 1,274 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions in five starts. Allen isn’t the only elite 2017 prospect on the Aggies roster, either. Sophomore defensive end Myles Garrett is an early contender to be the No. 1 overall pick in 2017.
The No. 9-ranked Aggies have this coming weekend off before an Oct. 17 showdown at Kyle Field against No. 8 Alabama.
