A Texas A&M student’s plea for help in raising money for her cancer treatment has gone viral among the Aggie Nation.
Including Johnny Football.
Shelby Smith, an 18-year-old freshman and member of tthe Tri Delta sorority, said she has a rare cancer. Her go fund me page has raised more than $57,000 in two days (more than 1,100 people have donated) and the page itself has been shared 5,800 times since Tuesday, when her campaign began.
The page has been retweeted and shared by members of the football team as well as fans other students and alumni. Manziel, or some with his name, donated $1,000 to the fund. That act of kindness was confirmed when Manziel put this on his Instagram account.
Othr messages on the GoFundMe page include:
“I was only there at Texas A&M one year but I will forever be an Aggie. One Spirit. I stand with you Shelby.”
“Prayers and best wishes!! With God’s help, you got this and can beat it!! You’re Aggie Strong and and have the Aggie Network with you. ❤️”
