According to Niche, Texas A&M ranks 10th in the recently published list of The 2016 Top Public Universities.
Niche calculated its rankings “based on key statistics and student reviews,” according to the description from the site. “The top ranked public colleges are elite academic institutions that provide a good value for in-state students and offer an exceptional college experience.”
The Aggies are one of two schools to be able to claim a top 10 ranking from the SEC. Florida finished eighth in the rankings that included 1,713 total qualifying colleges assessed.
Ten different factors were considered in the ranking, and A&M finished with an A-plus in four categories and six A’s overall. It’s A-plus grades were for value, student life, athletics and campus quality. The university received a B-plus grade in both professors and safety and a C-plus in diversity.
Georgia finished just outside the top 10, checking in at No. 11. Alabama (28), LSU (35), Auburn (36), Missouri (38), South Carolina (40), Mississippi State (42) and Arkansas (43) were among the 10 schools from the SEC to make the top 50.
Texas beat out Michigan for the top overall spot. UCLA, California and North Carolina round out the top five.
