Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk had one of the best freshman seasons in university history. Not coincidentally, he garnered some first-year SEC love on Wednesday.
Kirk was named the SEC Freshman of the Year, as determined by the SEC coaches.
The Aggies wide receiver set a school freshman record this season for all-purpose yardage with 1,659, good for fifth in school history among all classes. Kirk finished with 925 receiving yards, 45 rushing yards, 341 punt return yards and 348 kick return yards, as well as eight total touchdowns.
Kirk was the first Texas A&M player to return multiple punt returns for touchdowns in a season.
