Gunnell, a walk-on whose older brother is the Aggies 4-star 2019 quarterback commitment, gave Texas A&M fans the finger heading into halftime, at which point the Aggies were trailing.
Afterwards, Sumlin commented on Gunnell’s actions, saying that they have dealt with it.
Sumlin: Was made aware of [Gunnell gesture] at halftime. We dealt with it. He did not return to the field. He's since issued an apology.

Almost immediately after the game was over, Gunnell did issue a lengthy apology via Twitter.
But still, this was just another bad day for Sumlin and the Aggies in the 2017 season.
