Kevin Sumlin was quick to congratulate Mike Evans on a big night for the former Texas A&M wide receiver.
On Tuesday, Sumlin sent a tweet that said, simply, “Congrats #13” after Evans was named to his first Pro Bowl. Evans, the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, played under Sumlin with the Aggies during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Evans was one of 25 players who competed for schools with a current SEC affiliation named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday. There were two other Texas A&M players who received Pro Bowl nods, Von Miller and Michael Bennett.
Evans has grown into one of the Bucs’ most dangerous wide receivers. He has a career-high 84 catches for 1,159 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He has 226 catches for 3,416 yards and 25 touchdowns for his career.
It’s always great to see coaches stay in touch with their old players. This was a cool move by Sumlin, and it’s likely that Evans will appreciate the gesture.
