Get ready to begin the 2018 season under the lights, Texas A&M fans.
On Tuesday, the SEC announced that the Aggies’ season opener against Northwestern State has been rescheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30, so that the game can be broadcast at 8:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
Texas A&M’s opener was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1.
Texas A&M’s football season opener vs. Northwestern State has been moved to Thursday, August 30 and will be televised on the SEC Network. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 pm CT / 8:30 pm ET at Kyle Field in College Station.

The Aggies’ game against Northwestern State at Kyle Field will be their first under new coach Jimbo Fisher.
“We appreciate the SEC highlighting our season opener with Coach Jimbo Fisher in primetime,” Texas A&M director of athletics Scott Woodward said in a release. “We also appreciate the cooperation of President [Michael] Young and our faculty and staff at Texas A&M University working with us to bring this game to the country.”
This will be the first meeting between Texas A&M and Northwestern State. It will also be the Aggies’ first Thursday night regular-season game since 2005, when they beat Texas State on Thanksgiving.
Texas A&M will begin 2018 with three consecutive non-conference home games. After the matchup with Northwestern State, the Aggies host Clemson on Sept. 8 and Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 15. They begin SEC play with a road game at Alabama on Sept. 22.
