The 6-foot, 178-pound cornerback surprised some by picking Vanderbilt over Maryland among other schools. 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions had projected him to choose the Terrapins over the Commodores.
Arkansas and Kentucky had also expressed interest in him.
Haynie is the No. 160 overall prospect in the state of Florida according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
For Vanderbilt this is the 10th commitment of the 2017 class, all occurring since June 17. The Commodores have been on a role recruiting wise and this is another strong pickup for Derek Mason and his staff.
