Point guard Larry Austin will be playing basketball in Tennessee, but this time it’s for the Volunteers’ in-state rival.
The Xavier transfer has committed to Vanderbilt, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. He will not be eligible for the 2016-17 season, according to Rothstein.
Austin has a brief history with Tennessee. Austin signed with Tennessee in March 2014 but reopened his recruitment and was released from his National Letter of Intent a month later after former Vols coach Cuonzo Martin bolted for California.
Austin spent the past two seasons with Xavier, but opted to transfer after averaging just 10.1 minutes per game last season. He averaged 1.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game with the Musketeers last year.
