Bryce Drew took just one day to begin building his coaching staff at Vanderbilt, and is set to add his former Valparaiso assistant Roger Powell, according to Paul Oren of The Times of Northwest Indiana.
Powell, 33, spent the last five seasons as an assistant under Drew and was in attendance Wednesday for the introductory press conference for the new Vanderbilt coach. Prior to his coaching career, Powell played professionally for six years, including a brief stint with the Utah Jazz, although most of his career was in Europe.
Valparaiso named its replacement for Drew on Thursday, promoting assistant Matt Lottich to head coach.
According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Vanderbilt assistant Adam Cohen is set to be added to Jerod Haase’s staff at Stanford, and Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported assistant Tom Richardson will follow Kevin Stallings to Pittsburgh.
