Mason has a 13-24 record in his first three seasons at Vandy. This past season, he led the Commodores to a 6-7 mark and made his first appearance in a bowl game. However, Vandy fell in the Independence Bowl to North Carolina State.
Vanderbilt closed the 2016 regular season with back-to-back wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee, entering its bowl game with a .500 record.
This was a move that has been rumored for a while. including as recent as two months ago.
However, there were rumors several weeks ago that Mason may be considering a move to Cal — rumors he shut down himself on Twitter.
Now, Mason would be supporting the claim he made in that earlier tweet — that he is firmly settled at Vanderbilt and ready to keep trying to help the program trend upward.
