Kentucky may be the top team in the SEC, but don’t forget about the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Sports Illustrated’s Brian Hamilton listed Vandy as his dark horse to reach the Final Four in the publication’s college basketball preview.
The Commodores are ranked No. 18 in the inaugural Associated Press poll and have plenty of momentum coming into the new season. Vandy went 10-4 during the final two months of last season, finishing with a 21-14 record and reaching the NIT quarterfinals after its season seemed left for dead.
Vanderbilt returns six of its seven leading scorers from last season and was picked to finish second in the conference by the national media.
The Wildcats may draw the most headlines, but beware of the Commodores as a conference and national dark horse.
