Derek Mason is trying to get Vanderbilt fans to come out to the Commodores first team on Thursday against South Carolina.
The Commodores went 4-8 last year, an improvement in year 2 under Derek Mason. For this season, Mason has even bigger plans. But he’s going to need Vanderbilt fans to support the Commodores.
“Entering my third season at Vanderbilt, I’ve never been more excited for what this team has to offer,” Mason said. “I’m ready to show you who they are, what they stand for and how they go about their business.”

“But we can’t do this alone. We need Commodore Nation to show up in full force against South Carolina on national television,” Mason said.
In the tweet, Mason also attached a link to ticketmaster for so fans could be tickets to the game.
Mason also compared his Vanderbilt team to the city of Nashville, Tenn., and the potential promise the team has. The Commodores kickoff against the Gamecocks on Thursday on Sept. 1 at 8:00 p.m. South Carolina beat Vanderbilt 19-10 last season. Thursday’s game will also be the first game for new South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp.
