Talk about a burn from the Vanderbilt mascot.
Mr. Commodore, Vandy’s mascot, held a Reddit question-and-answer session with fans on Wednesday. These are always fun, and it was kind of Mr. C to drop by to dish knowledge on a variety of topics. (If you ever wanted to know which three mascots Mr. Commodore would pick to join him on a road trip, this was the thing for you.)
But one of the best moments came when Vanderbilt’s mascot delivered pain to an unsuspecting Tennessee fan.
Check out the exchange below. So clever. So terrific. And the fan’s response is fantastic.
Yes, Vanderbilt owns bragging rights within the Volunteer State. The Commodores beat Tennessee 45-34 last November in Nashville during a 6-7 season for Vandy that included an Independence Bowl berth.
Certainly, it seems far-fetched that Vanderbilt will rout Tennessee 85-0 when the teams meet again Nov. 25 in Knoxville. And while we’re at it, there’s a slim-to-none chance that the Commodores will go undefeated next season. Still, the “champion of life” jab was tremendous.
But we always enjoy a little smack talk between mascots and rival fans. Or something.
Cheers to Mr. Commodore for being a good sport and for providing a chuckle or two.
