As expected, Vanderbilt sophomore Wade Baldwin IV was the first Commodores player off the board, as the Memphis Grizzlies selected him with the 17th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Baldwin averaged 14.1 points, 5.2 assists and four rebounds for the Commodores in 2015-16. He was named a second-team All-SEC pick by the league’s coaches.
“To my teammates, despite our hard work and dedication, we didn’t achieve all of our goals on the court during the past two seasons, but we grew together as friends and teammates,” Baldwin said in announcing his decision to enter the draft. “You helped me become a better player and a better person. I never want to let you guys down, so leaving you all hurts the most.”
Commodores center Damian Jones is also expected to be selected in this year’s draft.
