Former Vanderbilt star Dansby Swanson was called up to the major leagues on Wednesday as expected and smacked his first hit in the major leagues playing for the Atlanta Braves in a game against the Minnesota Twins at Turner Field.
Swanson, the first overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, played shortstop and was batting eighth on Wednesday for the Braves. He came up in the second inning and lined out to center. He came up again in the fourth inning and singled to right off Twins starter Kyle Gibson.

Swanson was originally drafted by Arizona but was traded to Atlanta, the team he grew up cheering for, last winter. He was doing well enough in AA that the Braves decided to call him up this week.
Swanson ripped his second hit in the ninth inning and went 2-for-4 in the game but the Braves lost 10-3.
