Derek Mason should love Vanderbilt’s direction.
The Commodores coach watched his team claim its second consecutive victory Saturday by dispatching Tennessee State 35-17 at Vanderbilt Stadium. The result made the Commodores improve to 4-4, and they need just one more victory to make this season the best since Mason arrived before the 2014 campaign.
Thanks to Vanderbilt’s Twitter account, we received a glance at what Mason told his players Saturday. Check it out below:

Vanderbilt has been impressive in recent weeks. The momentum started with a 17-16 victory over Georgia on Oct. 15 at Sanford Stadium. The latest triumph added to the good vibes.
It was easy to question the Commodores’ direction under Mason before the latest uptick in optimism. Vanderbilt closes with Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee. It wouldn’t be stunning to see the Commodores reach six victories, which would be a significant achievement under Mason this year.
