We may have seen the punt of the year on Saturday. And it didn’t even count.
Vanderbilt punter Sam Loy fielded his fourth punt of the first half. The snap was high and bounced off Loy’s hands. While trying to recover the punt, Loy was being pursued by Georgia outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter.
But Loy was still able to get the punt off and it was a great one. The punt ended up going 61 yards and landed inside the Georgia 20-yard line.

But in peak Vanderbilt fashion, there was a penalty on the play. On the rekick, Loy’s punt only went for 47 yards.
Despite the issues with the Vanderbilt offense, the Commodores do have the lead. Vanderbilt leads 7-6 late in the second quarter.
